1st weekend in spring update

Word on the street is it's been ages since someone took 5 minutes to bring the world wide blog up to speed - here we go............
Last week in August was the final of the N-duro series in Rotorua, I opted for the 35km option on the singlespeed and wobbled up the first hill with two Monteiths Winter Ales under my belt. I got duped of another podium placing in the singlespeed class when some of the field took a shortcut on the A-trail whre it splits. I blame the ozzies.
Keighley had booked us in to most excellent lodgings on the side of the lake at Ngongotaha, complete with friendly ducks and a heat pump to ward off the chills. Quite possibly holiday house of the year.
Monday and Tuesday were spent getting things organised for Jungle Coffee being served at the UCI world MTB champs before kicking into gear Wednesday through to Sunday.
We sold about 4000 cups of coffee and hot chocolates thanks to my excellent marketing campaign involving a free lanyard for all customers and the incentive of a free coffee card with the tenth one free. Man were we busy, leaving little time for spectating or riding the excellent network of trails down the road from the race village.
Nanna and Poppa Woodward were up from Wellington to assist in looking after Emily - they did a sensational job and couldn't put a foot wrong - almost like they'd done this gig before......
This weekend was back into the hard graft, mum in the garden planting sweetcorn ready for Summer while dad was splitting logs out the back ready for winter.
Emily's new tricks include driving her "car" round the lounge and clapping her hands randomly. She used to fit in an empty Corona beer box not that long ago...............
