Emily's update for the week

Yo, yo. Hi fans and Mitchell over in Meadowbank, who is having his 1st birthday next week. You better be up for a big afternoon boyo - I'm going to challenge you to say, maybe 300mls of milk STRAIGHT UP!.....Look out.
Hopefully my cold will have gone by then as I have been gurgling all week and it sucks. Mum has been great though and Grandma Margaret knitted me a lovely poncho and tam o' shanta to keep me toasty.

N-Duro Round 1.

Here we are just prior to the start of the 30km mtb race of the N-Duro series on 11 June 2006. Putting the arse back into race, having a Coopers extra stout, riding the single speeds and getting our money's worth by walking up the steep hills - having a chat, making friends and not doing too badly for a bunch of sifters. We all own super duper dual suspension bikes with all the fruit, but decided the one gear wonders would be good entertainment on the day.

The 50km race coming up on 23 July might be another story though......James has got his VP3 Santa Cruz rolling ; as pictured below, Rick will hopefully have those new 2007 Fox forks by then and Tom - well Tom has an upgraded preferential supplier/regular service contract with Angela-his new bit of floss - he is just fizzing at the bung to say the least.

Hi....Emily here again

Well as you know my Dad has been mucking around on here recently filling up the interweb thingy with all sorts of bike stuff. My mum said there have been complaints from the BOP region as such !!

And today ws very exciting - mum went to work for the morning and left dad to wing it until Lynette the next door neighbour came over to calm dad down and send him off to work. Dad was all out of sorts as mum just took off about 7.15amish....Luckily for him I slept till after 8 or his day would have been crap..........
Lynette was great - she has had 4 kids of her own so I couldn't fluff her around like I do with dad: he hasn't got a clue.
Mum is getting wise to me though, so I have to come up with new tricks all the time to keep her on her toes.
Dad will have my photos back from the Kodak man in Ponsonby tomorrow, so I'll post some visuals then.

Random photos for later re-distribution....

Keighley in her hay-day single speeding it round Taupo 2004
Ricks Track bike, well actually it was made in Christchurch for Jason Gambitsus, sold to Tom Finlay of Office Express Cycle Couriers and then I bought it and couriered on it fora couple of years as well. Up and coming legend Alex Meenhorst now owns it.
Making coffee at the Day Night thriller 12 hour MTB race in Taupo 2005. The weasel bludging some coffee is that winging Pom and new entrant on New Zealand Dating Jono from Planet Cycles. Girls, if you're looking for a good time - hit him up. I think his profile name is "onebigpom"

Latest offering from Fox Racing Shox for 2007 - Rick will no doubt have a pair of these on his Foes shortly........

Here is where all the magic happens

In response to those of you who have been asking "where do all the good times happen" - Thanks Hill Billy Jim from Fresno California - I offer the following visuals........FRONTIERLAND.
My office, ahem, garage gets it's name from the previous owner and also the builder that chose the style of construction:concrete panels in the shape of timber logs, painted a tasteful shade of brown. What more could you ask for ?

A brief History of singlespeeding with the Redwoods

Although single speed mountain biking is not my only form of transport it is probably the most entertaining.
Working backwards (just like a blog) here is the fleet as best I can remember them and the

order they were rolling......

'92 Merlin Hardtail Titanium
'98 Scott Endorphin carbonfibre hardtail (well sort of)

'90 Klein Rascal aluminium hardtail
'00 KHS soft-tail True Temper steel
'98 Trek Zx8500 aluminium hardtail
Also a couple of unsucessful attempts along the way: One of the new GT I-drives was thought to have an islotaed rear triangle when they came out in mid 2004 -the plan was to singlespeed the sucker and take it to the single speed worlds in Berlin in August. How cool to just unbolt the rear triangle from the front and throw it in a suitcase! Yeah well it didn't work and still needed a chain tensioner so I just took the old Klein instead.
My old '98 Klein Attitude has rear entry drop outs, but a chain just couldn't be found to fit without the aid of a chain tensioner (stuffed old rear derailleur) so that was shelved too.
This post won't be particulary interesting for most everyone, I can't find many if any pics to add any visual enhancement. I'll keep on it.
